A Woman's View is now using the new improved Thin Prep® PAP test. The cells from the cervix are obtained basically the same way as in the past, but instead of immediately smearing the cells onto a slide, the swabs are placed in a solution which is then sent to the lab for processing. Previously the smear was often obscured by blood or inflammation, but the new Thin Prep® process removes the debris from the cervical cells, allowing them to be evaluated more accurately. The cost of this test is approximately $20 more than the old one and is covered by most insurance (if annual PAP smears are covered).
Dr. Denise Bilhorn, Dr. Alicia Walsh, Teri Herman, RNC GONP, Lisa Largent, RN-C, WHNP, ANP, Jennifer Ferrara, ANP, and Janese Trivette, FNP perform yearly checkups and PAP smears. We believe that the yearly exam & PAP smear is extremely important. For your convenience, you can also discuss any other health concerns you might have at this time if you let our appointment scheduler know you may need the extra time. We feel strongly that education and information about your body and how to keep it healthy is our duty to our patients.
Dr. Lovin is not presently performing routine physicals and PAPs, but she is available to see you for any gynecological problem or if you were to need surgery.
In keeping with this goal, we encourage our patients to use our Patient Media Center to find answers to their questions and to obtain information on how to stay as healthy as possible. And of course, all of our clinical staff are here to personally answer your questions and direct you to additional sources of information!
