Amee is originally from Kissimmee, Fla. She worked at Florida Hospital in GYN-oncology, GYN-ICU and bone marrow transplant for nine years prior to moving to Morganton with her husband and first son.
After relocating to Morganton, she decided to return to school and complete her Master of Science in Nursing—Family Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Western Carolina University in June 2015. She became familiar with A Woman’s View when she completed an internship with Dr. Gonzalez.
“I went into nursing as I enjoy helping people and truly feel it is an honor and privilege to care for people in their hour of need,” Amee says. “I decided to return to school and become a nurse practitioner when I saw the same patients admitted time and time again for chronic conditions that they had for years and did not understand the day-to-day disease management required to maintain their health and lead a quality life.”
Amee encourages patients to take control and responsibility of their health and wellbeing. Her clinical approach includes chronic disease management, preventative medicine and patient education.
Amee enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. The family enjoys camping, hiking and canoeing. Watching her children participate in skiing and snowboarding is also a great thrill of hers. Amee is her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop leader. She is also active in the Parent Teacher Organization and volunteering at her children’s school.
