Primary Care

Dr. Gonzalez hails from Williamsburg, Va., and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. During her medical training at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va., she met and married a fellow medical student, Michael Gonzalez.

Their next move was to Columbia, S.C., for Dr. Gonzalez to complete a residency in family medicine at the University of South Carolina. They left Columbia, lured by the cooler air of the North Carolina foothills, and settled in Morganton.

After working in Morganton for four years, Dr. Gonzalez joined the primary care team at A Woman’s View in 2008. She has since then earned her board certification in family practice for the second time. She shares her love for family medicine through teaching medical and nurse practitioner residents and students, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Family Medicine at Wake Forest School of Medicine.

Why family practice? “Every day is different, every patient is different and requires an individualized approach,” she says. “I strive to do better all of the time by continually learning and sharing that knowledge with my patients. Despite all of the challenges in medicine these days, I love my job. If I had to do it all again, I would still pick family medicine.”

Dr. Gonzalez is a proud mommy to three children, Sydney, Bryan and Aaron, as well as one fur baby, Katie the Golden Retriever. Her husband, Michael, is a pediatrician in Valdese.

Outside of work, Dr. Gonzalez is an active Girl Scout troop leader, as well as a soccer, football and basketball mom. In the past few years, she has completed eight triathlons, many 5Ks, a few 10Ks, four half-marathons and charity cycling rides.
